Louis Armstrong, often affectionately known as “Satchmo” or “Pops,” was a groundbreaking jazz trumpeter, vocalist, and bandleader whose influence reshaped the landscape of 20th-century music. Born in New Orleans in 1901, Armstrong rose from humble beginnings to become an international icon, blending virtuosic trumpet playing with his gravelly, emotive voice.
